Library

The mission of the Library Media Center at Central Elementary Schools is to promote information literacy in our school community and to create an atmosphere to support a life-long love of reading.

The library media center serves several functions at the elementary school.. We currently have approximately 5,450 volumes available for student checkout in our collection between both buildings. We also have DVDs, videos and CDs for classroom/teacher use.

All classes come into the library at least once in the 6-day cycle for 30 minutes. In their class, students learn new library/computer skills and have a quiet place to read once their books are checked out.

Check-out Policy

  • Each student in Kindergarten through 1st grade is allowed to check out one book from the easy section only.
  • Each student in grade 2 is permitted to check-out 2 library books from the easy, chapter book, and or non-fiction section.
  • Each student will be responsible for returning all library materials on the day of their next library class (renewals are possible).
  • There are no late fees for any books not returned on time. However, if a book is lost or damaged a replacement price will have to be paid before the student can check-out another book
