Hello, I am Mrs. Jerry Lynn Maldet! I am one of Central Elementary's Kindergarten teachers

and a PROUD member of the Chestnut Ridge Family! Go Lions!

My Education and Professional Trainings

I was born and raised in Windber and graduated from Windber High School. I graduated from UPJ with my Elementary Education Degree. I received my English as a Second Language Program Specialist certificate from Appalachia IU08. In addition to my formal education, I worked as a Therapeutic Support Staff for 6 years with Autistic children. I received training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy from:

My Work Experience

I worked for Appalachia IU08 as a personal care aide for several years. I was employed with United Health & Human Services and Northwestern Human Services. In these jobs, I worked in the autism programs as a Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS). I took a brief hiatus from the workforce to raise a family. Before coming to Chestnut Ridge in 2021, I worked as a substitute teacher for Ignite Education Solutions and as a teacher's/special education aide in the Shade-Central City School District.

What do I do as a KINDERGARTEN TEACHER?

At this age, I teach the foundations for learning. I teach the basics of the following subjects: Reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary & comprehension), Writing, Grammar, Math, Science, Social Studies, Printing, art, music, physical education, & social learning. I am a GARDENER of Children!

I also love the Lord, camping, pizza, sweet tea, Autumn, the beach, Pymatuning Lake, fishing, riding my e-bike, Dodge Demons, playing Pinochle, candles, hot chocolate and coffee & spending time with my family! Most evenings I can be found by the patio campfire or playing a lively game of Pinochle with the family! If I would not have been a teacher, I would have been a cryptozoologist.
