Title I
Central Elementary Schoolwide Program
Title 1 is a federally funded program. A schoolwide program uses its Title allocation to raise academic achievement for all students in the school. At the elementary level we focus our resources on reading instruction. All students receive 90 minutes of reading instruction per day from a scientifically based reading program. We also provide guided reading instruction to help serve students at their reading level.
Supplemental Reading Instruction
All kindergarten through second graders are benchmark tested using the Aimsweb Plus assessment, in the fall, winter and spring. Assessment results will determine necessary intervention or enrichment strategies. Throughout the year students in need of extra reading help will receive supplemental reading instruction in small groups at their individual level. We call this extra help a reading intervention. All intervention classes use scientifically based curriculum.
